Proud to release this teaser for JobTalks.org, my SSHRC-funded research project aimed at improving the way students, parents, and educators look at the Skilled Trades. I have an outstanding team in videographer Ahmed Said and Research Assistant Benjamin Millard, with great help from Maryl Eva.
In a few weeks, we'll be releasing 10 videos of tradespeople who are passionate about their jobs in a variety of fields. In the months that follow, dozens more interviews will be uploaded to our Youtube channel. In Spring 2018, a new Job Talks website will be launched, capable of matching individuals to particular trades based on their underlying values, goals, emotions, and personality. Once matched to a particular trade, visitors can then connect with various education and employment pathways in their respective trades. If you have an interest in our project, please reach out through the project's Contact page.
I'm a marketing professor at George Brown College in Toronto, Canada. Past Vice President and President of Caroline Co-op in Ward 28, where I live and work.
I have a PhD in sociology from the University of Waterloo.
