Torres del Paine in the Patagonian region of Chile. In total, we hiked 100 kilometers in 4 days. Well worth it for these kinds of views.
Irina's photo was selected as National Geographic's Photo of the Day on March 12, 2015. They called it "Fox on the Rocks." (Torres del Paine, Chile)
The Perito Moreno Glacier, located in the southwest Patagonia region of Argentina. The glacier is 30 km long.
This side of the glacier is 5 kms wide and over 70 metres high. We spent about 3 hours just watching and listening to the crashing of large chunks of ice into the water.
At the Great Wall of China. Far, far away from tourists -- and well worth the sweat!
The best photo of our Great Wall trek -- taken by a talented 10-year old.
At the North Peak of Mt. Hua in Xi'am, China. Known as the "world's deadliest hike," we walked 3 times the height of the CN Tower.
Our tent at the edge of the Jökulsárlón glacial lake in southeast Iceland.
Making the most out of our Optic tent.
In Pyongyang, DPRK (North Korea). I love this photo because it catches us smiling on camera, which given the general atmosphere was difficult to do.
After all, how does one pose when being watched in a totalitarian dictatorship?
Just another sunflower field in Voronezh, Russia.
Seeing St. Basil's Cathedral for the first time left me breathless. I couldn't believe I was seeing in person what I used to dream about when looking at school textbooks. I've already returned twice, each time spending hours hanging around near the Kremlin wall.
Upside down trees are not a Russian tradition, but in the case of Irina's uncle, it's a brilliant way to keep breakable ornaments out of reach of small children.
At Khaosan Road in Bangkok, Thailand.
At the beach where the movie "The Beach" was filmed -- Phi Phi Island.
On a dune near a small town oasis in Huacachina, Peru, where we went dune sledding.
Less than one day into our 4-day, 40 km trek to Machu Picchu.
Totally worth it.
Irina atop Huayna Picchu. That's Machu Picchu way in the background.
In front of Tower Bridge in London. We managed to cover all of downtown London during a 10 hour layover. I'd love to return to see the city at night.
Paradise so close to home - Bruce Peninsula National Park (Ontario). Irina wrote a blog post called Ontario's Best Hiking Spot that got hundreds of shares on Facebook.
Obligatory trip to Hoover Dam during our visit to Las Vegas. I still remember the hot, dry sun.
At "the point" of Point Pelee -- the southern-most part of Canada and an hour from Windsor, my hometown.
